Research & Field Reconnaissance
Every successful project depends on good information. CanadaWide has proprietary techniques to assess steel chemistry and the general suitability of a pipe for hot tapping. Even in new pipelines with good records, we often recommend a field verification of data to ensure a successful project.
Research
CanadaWide will use your pipe and operations data to prepare a preliminary feasibility assessment for a hot tap. If pipe records are deficient, we can offer an assessment based upon probabilities, subject of course, to field verification of the data.
Field Reconnaissance
A preliminary field visit is always prudent in order to ensure that the site is suitable for a hot tap and that the weld locations can be carefully examined for the presence of flaws. The field visit is also useful for identifying potential safety and other project issues in advance.
Steel Chemistry
CanadaWide has the equipment and expertise to obtain real time steel chemistry data during the reconnaissance phase. That information is important to selection of the appropriate welding procedure specification (WPS) and determining the maximum permissible cooling rate for the field installation.
